Where It All Started

Bruen's Bees didn't start as a business — it started as a curiosity. Growing up in Northern California, our family always had a deep connection to the land. We kept a garden, raised animals, and spent our summers outdoors. But it wasn't until we got our first hive that everything clicked.

What began as a single backyard colony quickly turned into a passion. We were fascinated by the complexity of the hive, the intelligence of the bees, and the incredible honey they produced. There was something honest and pure about it — nature doing what it does best, and us simply getting out of the way.

Growing the Apiary

One hive became five. Five became twenty. Today, Bruen's Bees manages over 40 colonies across multiple locations in Northern California. Each site is carefully selected for its proximity to wildflowers, orchards, and open land — giving our bees access to a diverse and rich forage area.

We run our operation the way we believe beekeeping should be done — with patience, respect, and a commitment to the health of our colonies above all else. We don't rush the harvest. We don't cut corners. Every jar of Bruen's honey reflects the care that goes into every hive visit.

Our Philosophy

We believe honey should taste like the place it came from. That's why we never heat, filter, or process our honey beyond what's necessary to get it safely into the jar. Raw and unfiltered isn't just a label for us — it's a commitment to giving you honey the way the bees intended it.

We're also deeply committed to the communities and landscapes that make our work possible. That's why we offer our Hosting Hives program — partnering with local landowners to place colonies on their property in exchange for a share of the harvest and the benefits of natural pollination.

At the end of the day, Bruen's Bees is about more than honey. It's about connecting people to something real — to the land, to the seasons, and to the remarkable little creatures that make it all possible.
